Allentown Knows How To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Open to the public, sponsored by the West End Pubs, this adult friendly event is the major fundraiser for the parade through the sale of the “Official Parade Tee Shirts” and shamrocks. This walking tour of the West End involves the Pubs, food establishments, entertainment and roaming bagpipers.

March 16
Flag-Raising Ceremony
11:45 AM – 12:15 PM
Open to the public, this will be the 6th Annual raising of the flag of the Republic of Ireland at City Hall Plaza in honor of St. Patrick’s day and the contributions of persons of Irish descent to the greater Allentown area. Festivities include bagpipe music, Irish Step Dancers and members of City Hall.

Coronation Celebration
7:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Agricultural Hall Annex, Allentown Fairgrounds
Open to the public, this family friendly event features the crowning of the 2017 King & Queen of the 60th St. Patrick’s Parade. Live entertainment, bag pipers, step dancers provide genuine Irish flavor leading up to the crowning ceremony. This is a BYOB evening, beer and soda are provided. Food is available for purchase during the event. Tickets are required.

Irish Cultural Community Day
Agricultural Hall Annex, Allentown Fairgrounds
12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Open to the public 4th Annual Irish Cultural Community Day at Ag Hall. This free, family friendly event includes face painting, music, dance, sport, crafts and an Irish passport to get signed! A snack and soft drink is included.

March 18
9:15 AM
Open to the public, the official Parade Mass and blessing of the statue of St. Patrick is held at Immaculate Conception Church, in the original Irish 6th ward. The Most Reverend Alfred A. Schlert, Bishop of Allentown will celebrate the Parade Mass.

West End St. Pat’s 5K Race
12:15 PM – 12:45 PM
Registration opens December 2016. Presented by the West End Alliance, this event is run prior to the St. Patrick’s Parade on the parade route in the West End Theatre district. In 2017 there will be openings for 1000 runners, age group awards and scoring by New England Timing and Chrono Track Timing System. For information go to

St. Patrick’s Parade
1:30 PM – 4:30 PM
60th Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade…stepping off at 1:30 PM, the 2017 St. Patrick’s Parade will feature 10 Pipe Bands, 8 Divisions and over 2000 marchers from organizations, schools, companies and community groups throughout the greater Lehigh Valley Area.
