CARBON COUNTY DAY OF CARING 2019 – The Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley is partnering with United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley to present the first annual Carbon County Day of Caring on Wednesday, October 16.  Community volunteers, local companies, and United Way staff will help non-profits with multiple projects throughout Carbon County.  There will be beautification projects, trail cleanups, and more!  See event opportunities https://www.volunteerlv.org/special-event/a0M1P00000LSa9SUAT.

CETRONIA AMBULANCE CORPS, Allentown is holding its 5th Annual Cetronia Open Golf Tournament on Friday, October 11 at Ole Homestead Golf Club, New Tripoli.  Volunteers are needed from 7am-3pm to help monitor the prize holes throughout the day and assist with registration in the morning.  Call Kim Blichar, 610- 530-5511, blichark@cetronia.org.

LEHIGH VALLEY ZOO, Schnecksville is seeking volunteers (13+ years) to help with their 2019 Farm Fest on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6.  Volunteers will help with tours of barnyard exhibit, lawn games, farm-themed crafts/activities, photos with tractors, mechanical bull rides, and more!  Call Julia Seeley, 610-799-4171 x248, jseeley@lvzoo.org.

PHOEBE ALLENTOWN NURSING HOME needs a volunteer wheelchair transporter for their in-house Beauty Shop on Thursdays 9-10:30am shift.  Gift Shop help is also needed on Sundays, 10am-1pm and 1-4pm; Mondays 12-3pm; Thursdays 9am-1pm; Saturdays 9am-12pm; and any other times for fill-ins when needed.  Training provided and help is only a phone call away during your shift.  Call Eileen Mihocko, 610-794-5366, emihocko@phoebe.org.

ST.LUKE’S UNIVERSITY HEALTH NETWORK, Bethlehem, Monroe, Quakertown, and Warren Campuses need Volunteer Escorts, Patient Advocates, and Hospice Volunteers Monday-Friday from 8am-12pm or 12-4pm. THE MIRACLE LEAGUE OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY, Schnecksville needs volunteers (ages 10-13 with adult supervision) to help set up and decorate for their Trick or Treat on Wednesday, October 23 from 1-8:30pm.  Approximately 200 kids with special needs come their field to participate in this event.  Call Kristy McKeever, 610-769-2096, info@miracleleaguelv.org.

AMERICAN RED CROSS, Bethlehem seeks volunteers for the “SOUND THE ALARM” Campaign on Saturday, September 28.  Meet at the Bethlehem Fire Dept., 2412 Easton Ave. no later than 8:30am. BETHLEHEM SPECIAL OLYMPICS needs volunteers to work with Rhythmic Gymnastics athletes as they learn skills and routines. Weekly practices on Wednesdays from 6:30-8pm.  Competitions on some weekends in the spring.  Volunteers to work with Artistic Gymnastics athletes are also needed for male and female gymnasts of varied ages and abilities.  Weekly practices are Thursdays 7:30-8:30pm.  Both opportunities run from November to June and experience helpful, but not necessary.  Call Elizabeth Dellers, 267-221-7740, bsolizd@gmail.com.

CEDARBROOK SENIOR CARE AND REHAB, Allentown has a volunteer opportunity in their Gift Shop for a cheerful person who likes helping others shop for snacks and gift items, Volunteer every Thursday from 12:30-3:30pm.  Residents love buying snacks, décor items and gifts as do family members, guests, and staff.  Cashier experience is helpful; training provided; must pass PA Criminal History Clearance done by Cedarbrook.  Call Kerry Magliane, 610-336-5684, kerrymagliane@lehighcounty.org.

COMMUNITY BIKE WORKS, Allentown needs instructors for their Earn-a-Bike program at their East Side facility.  This program teaches students (ages 9-17) basic bike mechanics and safety over a 12-week course.  It is a 6-8pm commitment one night a week.  No mechanical experience necessary.  Mentors aid students as they fix their bike and learn communication and teamwork skills.  Upon course completion, students earn their refurbished bike and a new helmet.  Call Hana Cannon, 610-820-9927, hcannon@communitybikeworks.org.

HOLIDAY HOPE CHESTS program needs volunteers to join the “Shoebox Squad.” Collect shoeboxes from local shoe stores and bring them to our office for wrapping.
