CARBON COUNTY DAY OF CARING 2019 – The Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley is partnering with United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley to present the first annual Carbon County Day of Caring on Wednesday, October 16.  Community volunteers, local companies, and United Way staff will help non-profits with multiple projects throughout Carbon County.  There will be beautification projects, trail cleanups, and more!  See event opportunities

DELAWARE & LEHIGH NATIONAL HERITAGE CORRIDOR, Easton is looking for volunteers to help with their Half Marathon Run & Walk on Sunday, November 3.  Volunteers will staff water stops, start and finish areas, and many places in between.  They serve water and food, direct participants at road intersections and crossings, help present medals and awards, and cheer on participants.  The course starts at the Northern Lehigh High School, Slatington, and finishes at Canal Street Park, Northampton.  Use the Signup Genius link to select your availability:

BETHLEHEM SPECIAL OLYMPICS needs volunteers to work with Rhythmic Gymnastics athletes as they learn skills and routines. Weekly practices on Wednesdays from 6:30-8pm.  Competitions on some weekends in the spring.  Volunteers to work with Artistic Gymnastics athletes are also needed for male and female gymnasts of varied ages and abilities.  Weekly practices are Thursdays 7:30-8:30pm.  Both opportunities run from November to June and experience helpful, but not necessary.  Call Elizabeth Dellers, 267-221-7740,

COMMUNITY BIKE WORKS, Allentown needs instructors for their Earn-a-Bike program at their East Side facility.  This program teaches students (ages 9-17) basic bike mechanics and safety over a 12-week course.  It is a 6-8pm commitment one night a week.  No mechanical experience necessary.  Mentors aid students as they fix their bike and learn communication and teamwork skills.  Upon course completion, students earn their refurbished bike and a new helmet.  Call Hana Cannon, 610-820-9927,

HOLIDAY HOPE CHESTS program needs volunteers to join the “Shoebox Squad.” Collect shoeboxes from local shoe stores and bring them to our office for wrapping.
