Walking To Help Find an MS Cure

At PPL Electric Utilities Community Matters.

An example of the volunteer spirit came at the recent Allentown Walk MS at Coca-Cola Park, organized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Nearly 50 employees and their family members walked despite rainy conditions and raised more than $5,100. Business resource groups within PPL each fielded teams to walk in the event and helped raise funds and awareness. PPL Electric Utilities also was a major sponsor this year.

The money raised goes to MS research with the goal of understanding the cause of the disease, which damages nerves and disrupts the flow of information between the brain and body. MS causes many different symptoms, including vision loss, pain, fatigue, and impaired coordination.

More than 300,000 people were expected to participate in 400 Walk MS events throughout the country.
