Welsh immigrants streamed into the Slate Belt, Easton, and Williams Township especially in the mid-to-late 1800s, bringing their remarkable musical talents that have become world renowned. “Welsh Music in America” will be the focus of a talk at the October 20, 3:00 pm meeting of the Williams Township Historical Society at St. John’s Church of Morgan Hill, 2720 Morgan Hill Rd., Easton, PA.
Jim Moyer, head of the Music Department for the Pennsbury School District, will present recordings and illustrations of the singing groups. Moyer traces his own lineage through his mother’s Welsh family lines. He earned his B. Music at Westminster Choir College, Master’s degree in choral conducting at the University of Oklahoma, and additional graduate work at Temple University and the University of South Carolina.
The public is welcome at the meeting.
